BMR Calculator
Calculate your Basal Metabolic Rate and Total Daily Energy Expenditure to understand how many calories your body needs each day.
What is BMR?
Your Basal Metabolic Rate (BMR) is the number of calories your body needs to perform basic life-sustaining functions like breathing, circulation, and cell production while at complete rest. It represents the minimum energy your body requires to stay alive.
Your Total Daily Energy Expenditure (TDEE) adds the calories burned through daily activities and exercise on top of your BMR, giving you the total calories you need each day to maintain your current weight.
About the Formulas
Mifflin-St Jeor
Considered the most accurate for most people. Developed in 1990 and widely recommended by dietitians and nutrition professionals.
Harris-Benedict
One of the oldest and most well-known BMR equations, originally developed in 1919 and revised in 1984. Tends to slightly overestimate calorie needs.
Katch-McArdle
Uses lean body mass for its calculation, making it potentially more accurate for people who know their body fat percentage, especially lean or muscular individuals.
